Stuffed Shells

A delicious Stuffed Shell recipe which my husband and I really enjoy!

Stuffed Shells 

Cook Time: 1 Hour  

Servings: 6


  • 1 (12-oz.) package jumbo pasta shells 

  • ¾ lb. lean ground beef
1 onion, chopped

1 (29-oz.) can diced tomatoes

  • 1 (15-oz.) can tomato sauce
1 (16-oz.) container cottage cheese 

  • 1/8 teaspoon minced garlic  
2 teaspoons dried oregano

1/4 teaspoon dried basil

salt, season according to taste

ground black pepper, season according to taste

8-ounces shredded mozzarella cheese


1.)  Cook shell pasta in a large pot with boiling salted water until al dente.  Drain well.


2.)  In a large skillet, brown the ground beef and onions.  Drain off the grease.


3.)  In a large bowl, add the chopped tomatoes, tomato sauce, and cottage cheese; stir well. 
 

4.)  Now add the basil, oregano, garlic, salt, and black pepper.  Stir until well blended.


5.)  In the bottom of a 2-quart baking dish, cover with a half cup of tomato sauce mixture.


6.)   Stuff shells with beef mixture.  Place side by side in baking dish. 


7.)   Cover stuffed shells with remaining tomato sauce and top with mozzarella cheese. 


8.)  Cover with aluminum foil. 


9.)  Bake in a 350°F. oven for an hour.


10.)  Allow to stand for 15 minutes and then serve.
